Co-op Awareness Month – Our Cooperative Story

Most rural electric cooperatives got their starts with a group of civic-minded farmers who simply wanted electricity for their rural homes and farms. Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative has a history that’s a little different. WWCEC owes its beginning to a group of small-town business leaders who joined together in 1935 and 1936 to bring electricity to the small communities of Wayne and White counties.

Co-op Awareness Month – What is a cooperative?

Because we are a cooperative, we operate a little differently than other utilities. Wayne White Counties Electric Cooperative's decisions are made locally, by directors who also live right here in our communities. Everyone who pays to receive electricity from the cooperative is a member.

Upcoming Improvements at Wayne-White Electric

At Wayne-White Electric, we are always looking for ways to best serve our members. The next project we will be working on beginning in September is creating a drive-up drop box for members to drop off payments or documents without having to get out of their car.

How does the Electric Grid Really Work?

That simple faith in reliability is the product of a complex electric grid working in three stages: generation, transmission and distribution.

Fifty-three young leaders representing 24 Illinois electric and telephone cooperatives boarded buses and departed for Washington, D.C. on June 16 for the annual National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's Youth to Washington Tour.

Capital Credit Checks Coming Late Summer

Capital credit checks will be mailed out later in the summer for the second half of 2001 through the first half of 2004. If you had service with Wayne-White Electric then, you should receive a capital credit check this year.
