No Barriers Program for Disabled Veterans

Is a CoBank/No Barriers Expedition for you?

  • Are you a veteran from any branch of the U.S. armed forces?
  • Do you suffer from a service-related disability, whether visible or invisible?
  • Do you have a VA disability rating?
  • Are you interested in challenging limitations and overcoming obstacles?

CoBank, a cooperative bank serving agribusiness, rural infrastructure providers, and Farm Credit associations throughout the United States, has renewed its No Barriers program in 2024 for rural veterans with disabilities. For more than seven years, CoBank has partnered with No Barriers to bring rural veterans with disabilities to the Rocky Mountains. This transformative experience helps participants to overcome challenges, create new relationships and experience new possibilities.

As a customer of CoBank, Wayne-White Electric has been invited to recruit disabled veterans in our service territory to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. All veterans have to do is apply online through No Barriers and indicate a referral by Wayne-White Electric Cooperative. This will give the applicant selection preference for the CoBank-sponsored expeditions. Up to fifty veterans will be chosen to fill four expeditions on a first come, first served basis.

Applications will be accepted for consideration though June 15, 2024. Once applications are submitted, No Barriers will contact the veteran directly to complete the interview and medical review process. Veterans must fully complete the application and acceptance process in order to participate. If selected for the program, CoBank will cover all costs for the participating veteran, including travel expenses. Expeditions take place at the No Barriers Mountain Campus in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado.

"The 2024 No Barriers Warriors program is designed to help Veterans with disabilities achieve belonging, identity and purpose," said John Toth, senior director for No Barriers Warriors. "No Barriers is thrilled to once again partner with CoBank as we work collaboratively to provide these experiences to Veterans with disabilities."

The No Barriers experience includes focused online training to learn the No Barriers Life elements and connect with their team/rope team before the expedition as well as support to accomplish goals set on the trip after they return home.
