HomE Statewide Rebate Program

The Electric Cooperatives of Illinois have announced a special rebate program that became effective May 10, 2010.  It is called HomE (pronounced "Home-E")  and it includes rebates for energy efficient HVAC equipment purchases & installations as well as weatherization upgrades through insulation or other air sealing applications.  This new program is in ADDITION to the current program that we have already been running since February that involves rebates from Wayne-White Electric Cooperative and Hoosier Energy, our new wholesale power supplier.  There are some similarities & differences in both programs,   HomE will benefit 48 homeowners, on a first-come, first served basis.

The HomE  statewide program will only last for as long as there is funding in the program (stimulus money).  Our cooperative has been allocated $72,000 in HomE funds to rebate to our member/customers.  Therefore, the HomE program will likely only last a few months (about 48 homes).  We expect the Wayne-White/Hoosier Energy rebates to last for an extended period of time.  In the new HomE program, you must be served by the cooperative in your existing primary residence (no new construction for this program) and you must be above 150% of the poverty level (household income) to qualify.

 (Good News!  You might be eligible for a Rebate from BOTH programs)

Some of the highlights of the new statewide HomE incentive rebate program include:

$1,500—-Geothermal Heat Pumps (Energy Star standards apply-ask for details)

$1,000—-Air Source Heat Pumps (Minimum 16 SEER model)

$350—-Central Air Conditioning Units (Minimum 16 SEER)

$350—-Natural Gas or LP Furnace (95% Efficiency)

$250—-Heat Pump Water Heater (Energy Factor of 2.0)

$500—-Maximum or 30% of Cost for Insulation/Air Sealing

The MAXIMUM Total Rebate in the HomE Program is $1,500.
Rebates will only be approved for one piece of heating or cooling equipment

Residents that are eligible for the LIHEAP program are NOT eligible for HomE rebates. In other words, your household income must be greater than 150% of the poverty level for your family size.
* Family size of 1 is $16,245
* Family size of 2 is $21,855
* Family size of 3 is $27,465
* Family size of 4 is $33,075
* Family size of 5 is $38,685
* Family size of 6 is $44,295

A $25 Assessment Fee and walk through inspection is  Required for any of the HomE Incentive Rebate Offers. This can include a Blower Door Test to measure the air infiltration (leakage) in your home at no extra charge.

 This program  is totally separate from the Wayne-White/Hoosier Energy Rebates.  You might qualify for incentive payments from BOTH programs.
